  • 1 cup White Wine Dry white like Pinot Grigio
  • 4 cups Water
For the Pasta
  • 1 pound Ziti Pasta Substitute with penne or rigatoni if needed
For the Topping
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated) For serving
  • 1 cup Fresh Basil Leaves Can use aromatic varieties like Genovese

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add seasoned beef chunks and brown them on all sides for 4-5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, reduce heat to low and add sliced onions and minced garlic. Cook gently for about 30 minutes until golden and caramelized.
  3. Return the browned beef to the pot. Pour in white wine, scraping up browned bits. Add water to cover ingredients, cover, and simmer for 2 hours.
  4. About 15 minutes before serving, bring a pot of salted water to boil. Cook ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  5. Add the cooked ziti to the pot with the beef and sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water if needed for consistency. Serve hot, garnished with Parmesan and basil.
