Preparation Steps
- Begin by lining a 9x13 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to make removing the treats easier. Preheat your broiler to high.
- In a large pot, melt 1 cup of salted butter over medium heat, stirring gently. Add 2 cups of dark brown sugar and 1/4 cup of apple cider. Bring to a boil and let it bubble for about 5 minutes.
- After boiling, stir in a pinch of salt and 2 cups of mini marshmallows until fully melted and smooth.
- Gradually add 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal, folding gently until coated.
- Spread onto a baking sheet, place 2 cups of regular marshmallows in a single layer, and broil for 1 to 2 minutes until golden brown.
- Fold the toasted marshmallows into the Rice Krispie mixture carefully.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan and press gently into an even layer.
- Cool for 30 minutes to 1 hour at room temperature and then cut into squares or bars.
