Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Wash 12 ripe strawberries under cold water and pat dry. Cut off the green tops to create a stable base and place the strawberries on a serving dish with the pointed tip facing upward.
  2. Take 2 ounces of white fondant and separate into two pieces. Add black food coloring gel to one piece and knead until evenly distributed.
  3. Dust your work surface with ⅓ cup of powdered icing sugar. Roll out both fondant pieces until about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Cut ovals from the black fondant to shape monster mouths, and tiny triangles from the white fondant for teeth.
  5. Attach white teeth to black mouths using a small amount of water. Allow to set.
  6. Use the white writing icing to attach the black mouths onto the top of each strawberry.
  7. Place candy eyes above the mouths on each strawberry, using more icing to hold them in place.
