  • 16 large White or Cremini Mushrooms Choose fresh mushrooms for best taste
For the Filling
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Softened; low-fat version can be used
  • 1/2 cup Cooked Sausage Or crumbled bacon; can substitute with ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese Adds a nutty flavor
  • 1 clove Garlic Minced; can substitute with garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley Chopped; other herbs can be used as alternatives
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper Adjust to taste
For the Eyeball Effect
  • 16 small Olives Pitted; green or black olives work well

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Gently wipe mushrooms clean and remove their stems.
  3. Combine chopped stems, cream cheese, sausage/bacon, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Stuff each mushroom cap with the filling.
  5. Arrange stuffed mushrooms on a greased baking sheet.
  6. Press an olive into the center of each stuffed mushroom cap.
  7. Bake for about 20-25 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  8. Let cool briefly, then serve warm.
