Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Mix gently and let rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Divide the mixture into four portions and shape into oval patties, about 0.75 inches thick. Set aside on a plate.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook patties for approximately 4 minutes on each side until golden-brown. Remove from skillet.
  4. In the same skillet, lower heat and whisk in flour, stirring for 1-2 minutes. Gradually add beef broth, whisking continuously until thickened (3-5 minutes).
  5. Return the patties to the skillet and let simmer in the gravy for about 5 minutes.
  6. Plate the Salisbury steaks, allowing gravy to cascade over each patty. Garnish and serve with mashed potatoes or buttered noodles.
