  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley, chopped Alternatively, use basil or oregano.
  • 1 Onion, finely chopped Shallots may be used for a milder taste.
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced Use garlic powder if fresh is unavailable.
For the Sauce
  • 1 cup Red Wine A fruity variety like Merlot is recommended.
  • 14 oz Canned Tomatoes, crushed Fresh tomatoes can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup Beef Broth, low-sodium Vegetable broth can be used for a lighter version.
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil Other oils can be used if they have a high smoke point.
  • Salt & Pepper Adjust according to dietary needs.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Finely chop one onion and mince three cloves of garlic, then set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped parsley, onion, garlic, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix gently.
  3. Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and set them aside.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs on all sides for about 8-10 minutes.
  5. Remove the meatballs and add red wine to the skillet, scraping up the browned bits. Stir in crushed tomatoes and beef broth.
  6. Return the meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes.
  7. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper, then serve over mashed potatoes, pasta, or crusty bread.
