Ingredients
  

For the Burger Assembly
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable Oil Prevents sticking on the baking tray; olive oil can be used as a substitute.
  • 8 pieces Beef Meatballs Can swap with turkey or chicken meatballs.
  • 8 rolls Small Seeded Rolls Any small bread roll will do.
  • 1 head Little Gem Lettuce Acts as a fresh base layer.
For the Fun Accents
  • 2 slices Cheddar Cheese Halved for cheese 'teeth'; can opt for gouda or pepper jack.
  • 1/4 small Cucumber Provides a crunchy 'tongue'; bell pepper strips can be used.
  • 16 pieces Cornichons Serve as 'horns'; dill pickles are an alternative.
  • 16 pieces Green Olives Pimento-stuffed for 'eyeballs'; black olives can be a substitute.
  • Ketchup Adds moisture and flavor.

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (180°C fan/gas 6) and line a baking tray with foil, drizzling with vegetable oil.
  2. Place beef meatballs on the tray, flatten each into a patty shape, and brush with oil. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
  3. Slice small seeded rolls in half and place a leaf of little gem lettuce at the base of each.
  4. Cut cheddar cheese into a zig-zag pattern and halve for ‘teeth’ to use on burgers.
  5. Slice cucumber diagonally for tongues and prepare cornichons for horns.
  6. Gather green olives as eyeballs and have ketchup ready for assembly.
  7. Assemble each burger by placing a patty on the lettuce-lined roll, adding the cucumber slice, cheese ‘teeth’, and ketchup, then cap with the other half of the roll.
  8. Decorate with cornichons for horns and green olives for eyes.
