Step-by-Step Instructions for Slow Cooker Carnitas
  1. Begin by patting your boneless pork shoulder dry with paper towels. Rub it generously with a blend of salt, chili powder, ground cumin, dried oregano, and black pepper.
  2. Place the seasoned pork into the slow cooker. Sprinkle the chopped yellow onion and minced garlic over the top.
  3. Pour the orange juice and lime juice over the pork and aromatics in the slow cooker, distributing evenly.
  4. Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on Low for 8 hours or High for 6 hours.
  5. Once cooking time is complete, remove the pork and shred it using two forks, mixing in some drippings for moisture.
  6. Preheat the oven’s broiler. Spread shredded pork on a lined baking sheet and broil for about 4 minutes until crispy.
  7. Remove from oven, stir in more drippings, and broil for another 4 minutes for additional crispiness.
