Baking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan with butter, dusting it with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and granulated sugar on medium speed for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating each in thoroughly and scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking powder. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients along with lemon zest and juice, mixing gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the cake cools, mix the powdered sugar and lemon juice in a separate bowl until smooth for your frosting.
- Once the cake has completely cooled, remove it from the pan and frost the top with the lemon glaze, allowing it to cascade down the sides.
