Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine 6 cups of peeled and sliced fresh peaches, 1 cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Toss gently until peaches are well coated and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
- In another mixing bowl, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter. Whisk in 1½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt until well combined. Gradually add in 1 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, stirring until the batter is smooth.
- Add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg to the batter. Fold in the spices until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into your greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Spoon the peach mixture with all its syrup over the top of the batter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
- Let the cobbler cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
