Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 6 cups of peeled and sliced fresh peaches, 1 cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup of water, and 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice. Toss gently until peaches are well coated and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
  3. In another mixing bowl, melt ½ cup of unsalted butter. Whisk in 1½ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt until well combined. Gradually add in 1 cup of whole milk and 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, stirring until the batter is smooth.
  4. Add ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of ground nutmeg to the batter. Fold in the spices until evenly distributed.
  5. Pour the batter into your greased baking dish, spreading it evenly. Spoon the peach mixture with all its syrup over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let the cobbler cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
