  • 1 tsp onion powder can skip or use garlic powder
For the Biscuit Topping
  • 1 10.2-oz can GRANDS homestyle buttermilk biscuits opt for gluten-free biscuits if needed
  • 1 cup 2% shredded Colby jack cheese low-fat cheddar is a great swap

Step-by-Step Instructions for Healthy Sloppy Joe Biscuit Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for about 6–8 minutes until browned and drain excess fat.
  3. In the same skillet, add the onion, yellow bell pepper, and mushrooms. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, add tomato sauce, ketchup, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, dry mustard, and onion powder. Stir and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Cut each biscuit into quarters and arrange them on top of the beef filling.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the biscuit pieces evenly.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until biscuits are golden brown. Optionally broil for an additional 1–2 minutes for an extra crispy finish.
