Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, fully incorporating each before adding the next, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in half of the dry ingredient mixture followed by the Greek yogurt, then add the remaining dry ingredients.
- Fold in most of the quartered fresh figs, reserving some for topping later.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smooth the top and arrange reserved figs on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Slice and serve warm or let it cool completely for later enjoyment.

Notes
Use room temperature eggs and yogurt for better emulsification. Gently combine ingredients to keep the cake light and airy.
