  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Fresh cloves are preferred, garlic powder can be substituted.
  • 2 large Eggs Flax egg can work for a vegan version.
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt Adjust based on dietary needs.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper Can be omitted for a milder flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg Omit if a non-spiced meatloaf is preferred.
  • 1/2 cup Grated Parmigiano-Reggiano Cheese Swap with regular Parmesan if unavailable.
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Italian Parsley Dried parsley can be used if fresh isn't available.
For the Decoration
  • 1/2 cup Barbecue Sauce Any favorite brand or homemade version works.
  • 1 stalk Celery Cut into squares for toenails.
  • 1 medium White Onion (cut into thick slices) Any type of onion can work.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the Italian bread crumbs with either milk or beef stock and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, finely diced onion, minced garlic, eggs, sea salt, ground black pepper, ground nutmeg, grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, and chopped parsley. Mix gently.
  4. Add the prepared breadcrumb mixture to the meat mixture and fold everything together until fully integrated.
  5. Shape the meat mixture into foot-shaped loaves on the baking sheet, using celery for toenails and thick onion slices for stumps.
  6. Bake the shaped Halloween Feet Loaf in the oven for 40 minutes. Check internal temperature aiming for at least 160°F (70°C).
  7. Brush a generous amount of barbecue sauce on top of each loaf and return to the oven for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  8. Let the loaves rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
