  • 2 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 4 large Eggs room temperature
  • 2 cups Cake Flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbl Baking Powder fresh
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda fresh
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 cup Milk whole milk recommended
  • 1/2 cup Concentrated Orange Juice
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil or canola oil
  • 2 tbl Orange Zest freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract optional
  • 2 drops Orange Coloring Gel optional
Frosting Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter softened
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tsp Orange Extract
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar adjust to taste

Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the cake flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened cream cheese and unsalted butter until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Gradually add the granulated sugar and then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Add the milk, orange juice, vegetable oil, orange zest, and orange extract to the egg mixture, mixing until smooth.
  6. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 28 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Remove the cakes and let them cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes, then turn them out to cool completely.
  9. Prepare the frosting by beating butter and cream cheese until smooth, then mix in vanilla, orange extract, salt, and powdered sugar.
  10. Once cooled, frost the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides to finish.
