  • 1 sheet Puff Pastry thawed
For the Filling
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 larges Onions yellow, finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 cups Apples e.g., Honeycrisp or Granny Smith, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Thyme or rosemary
  • 1 large Egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon Honey optional

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unfold the puff pastry onto the lined baking sheet, score a one-inch border around the edges.
  3. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, add onions, sugar, and salt. Stir for 20-25 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Spread the caramelized onions within the scored border of the pastry, layer apple slices on top, sprinkle with cheddar and thyme.
  5. Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry edges. Optionally, drizzle honey on top.
  6. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
  7. Let the tart cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
