- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unfold the puff pastry onto the lined baking sheet, score a one-inch border around the edges.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat, add onions, sugar, and salt. Stir for 20-25 minutes until caramelized.
- Spread the caramelized onions within the scored border of the pastry, layer apple slices on top, sprinkle with cheddar and thyme.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry edges. Optionally, drizzle honey on top.
- Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until the pastry is golden brown.
- Let the tart cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.
