  • 2 cups apples diced tart apples like Granny Smith
For the Glaze
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar to taste
  • 2 tablespoons milk for glaze, can be omitted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lightly greasing it or lining with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Gently pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture. Stir until just combined.
  5. Fold in the diced apples using a spatula.
  6. Spoon heaping amounts of batter onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. While the fritters are baking, whisk together the confectioners' sugar, milk, and vanilla extract for the glaze until smooth.
  9. After cooling slightly, drizzle the glaze over the warm fritters.
